A Migrant in California

While more then 400 breweries open their doors every year in the US, the Green Flash Brewing Company (San Diego, California) continues quietly on its path with a large range of year-round beers distributed in three categories: West Coast-style ales, Belgian-inspired ales and Seasonal and special releases. Having enjoyed “Le Freak,” I chose this “Saison Diego.”

I will say from the start that this Saison is very light – in alcohol (4.2% ABV), carbonation, and texture. Maybe I’m too used to the structure of its Belgian counterparts to appreciate this (excessive) lightness. Having said this, I find it very interesting because it gets closer to the thirst-quenching traditional seasonal beers originally brewed in the farmhouses of Wallonia. And that’s a plus for this smooth and yeasty beer.
