Turbodog is one of Abita’s higher-gravity offerings, a dark brown ale with real depth, balancing pale, caramel and chocolate malts with Vaudevillian dexterity, strong hops but also a tinge of quinine I could have done without.

Readily available in bottles, to find it on tap is a real treat; about the only place you can do so is at the Abita Brewpub itself, in Abita Springs, Louisiana. Here you can have it with the Blackened Surf & Turf or with a nice chunk of English cheddar, depending on the time of day or your fancy.
