Promoting Polygamy
What exactly does Porter have to do with Polygamy, besides alliteration? The label rings more of Hugh Hefner than Mormonism, and at 4% abv this dark chocolate offering from Wasatch and Squatters Beers (a.k.a. Utah Brewers Cooperative) seems designed to keep a daring playboy active through the long night.
Surprisingly, the tawdriness of the label hides a fairly distinctive true stout. Excellent soft chocolate flavor with highlights of oatmeal, roasted malt and vanilla, and a dry finish with a hint of almond or pecan, put this one near the top of the list of US produced porters. Despite my recommendation, however, my (only) wife remained uninterested.
