A Dutch Trappist

After Westmalle and Westvleteren, here is our third Trappist brewery. And it’s the only Dutch one among the seven officially recognized as producing beer eligible to be labelled as an “Authentic Trappist Product” (ATP).

The Cistercian abbey Onze Lieve Vrouw van Koningshoeven in Berkel-Enschot (province of Noord-Brabant, Netherlands) brews nine different beers under the name “La Trappe”, of which this Triple is one.

To put it simply, this beer is excellent, even if it lacks a little depth. The spicy taste matches the nose. Full-bodied and sweet with a touch of bitterness, this 8% ABV Triple is the hoppiest of the La Trappe range but nonetheless releases a full malt flavour. For the style, its carbonation level is high.
