Danish or American? It’s not an easy call. Evil Twin Brewing has two headquarters: Copenhagen and Brooklyn. Ratebeer cites both, whereas Beeradvocate designates Denmark as the origin of the product. The brewery’s website puts Brooklyn in the foreground but its domain name ends with .dk… In any case, it illustrates the gypsy brewing phenomenon: We’re here, we brew there or elsewhere…
We agree that what matters is the quality of the product — which in my opinion is rather Danish, given that the founder is one Jeppe Jarnit-Bjergsø, the brother of Mikkeler’s founder…
So, you may be saying, what about the beer?.. A 7%-ABV Saison (brewed in Denmark). That may surprise the Belgians, who invented the style, although the presence of Brettanomyces should please them. In fact, I would just say this: This is a wild beer, with a long-lasting yeasty finish, an oversized Saison, to be admired (as I do) or rejected.
