From the Feathered Lion…
After the IPA from Founders, which aims to be an all-day beer (see our report), here is a Saison beer which aims to be unaccustomed and nearly close to an IPA… We could summarize by saying: When the styles push the boundaries…
By its name (métisse means mixed), this beer announces its ambition, and the presence of Cascade hops confirms it. This hop from Oregon, which contains high amounts of alpha acids, is spicy, floral, and usually found in American pale ales and IPAs.
Founded in 2009 by Julien Gascard, Lion à Plume Brewery (Attert, province of Luxembourg, Belgium) offers us here a slightly surprising season beer with a strong bitter taste, rustic malty notes, and a funky yeast trace. A very expressive and well-balanced Métisse with a good level of complexity, refreshing as this beer type should be.
