Aún Más Café Jesús

As an Imperial stout with a robust 12 percent alcohol, Evil Twin Brewing’s Aún Más Café Jesús sounds like a beefy brew. In fact, it’s deceptively light even though it’s impenetrably dark. It pours an inch-high mocha head that dissipates quickly while releasing a fragrant combination of roasted malts, dark chocolate, and licorice. There’s a hint of the coffee that’s part of the beer’s signature in the nose, but roasted coffee is far more prominent in the taste, where its rich bitterness is balanced beautifully by the smooth richness of the chocolatey stout and a hint of fruit. Vanilla and brown sugar notes emerge as Aún Más Café Jesús warms.

Because of its strength and richness, it’s not a beer that you blast down by the six-pack during a football game, but like a good cigar, it can be a lovely part of a mellow evening.
