Not far from the Groenplaats (the Green Square) in downtown Antwerp, I tried for you the typical, landmark beer from the “hand thrown” (Ant-werpen) city: De Koninck (The King) is an amber beer that must always be tasted on tap.
Just order a “bolleke” and you receive a De Koninck. As they say in Belgium it’s a “surette” beer, simultaneously slightly sweet and bitter.
